Okay, engaged friends, so you’ve said “yes” to your partner. Now comes the fun (and sometimes overwhelming) part: finding the dress! The bridal appointment is the moment - the one you’ve probably been dreaming about since childhood.
But if you’re like most brides-to-be, you might be thinking, "What actually happens during that appointment? Do I just try on dresses and magically find ‘the one’?"
We’re here to pull back the curtain and give you the complete, minute-by-minute schedule of what to expect at After 5 & Weddings. Think of this as your VIP backstage pass to saying "yes" to the dress!
Pre-Appointment Homework (Before You Arrive)
Before you even step through our doors, a little prep goes a long way to making your appointment productive and fun!
Dream Board: Have a rough idea of styles you like (A-line, mermaid, ballgown, etc.) and save some inspiration photos.
The Crew: Decide who you’re bringing. We recommend keeping your entourage small - 3 or 4 trusted opinions are usually the perfect number. Too many cooks spoil the broth (and the dress-finding experience!).
The Undergarments: Wear nude or white seamless underwear. Trust us, it makes trying on samples infinitely easier.

The 90-Minute Journey: Your Appointment Schedule
We typically book bridal consultations for 90 minutes. Here’s how that time is generally structured:
Minutes 1–15: The Meet & Greet (Vision Setting)
Your dedicated bridal consultant will welcome you and your guests! This time is all about getting to know you and your wedding vision.
Consultation & Vibe Check: We’ll chat about your wedding date, venue (is it a rustic barn, a grand ballroom, or a beach?), and overall aesthetic.
Budget Talk: We’ll confirm your comfortable price range so we only pull gowns that fit your budget - no heartbreak here!
Inspiration Review: You’ll show us those saved photos, and we’ll discuss what you love and what you really don’t love about them.
Minutes 15–30: The Treasure Hunt (Initial Pulls)
This is where the magic starts! Your consultant will walk the floor, pulling a selection of gowns based on your vision and style.
First Selection: We'll usually grab 4-6 dresses that hit your key criteria (silhouette, fabric, etc.).
Wildcard Dress: Sometimes, we’ll pull one dress that’s slightly outside your comfort zone. Often, this "wildcard" is the one that surprises everyone and becomes The Dress!

Minutes 30–75: The Runway (Trying On!)
This is the bulk of the appointment - the fun part!
Trying On: Your consultant will help you in and out of each gown, clipping the samples to fit your body as closely as possible so you can really envision the final result.
The Discussion: After each dress, we’ll talk about what you liked, what you didn’t, and how it felt. This feedback is crucial! If you like the bodice of Dress A but the skirt of Dress C, we know which designers to focus on next.
The Favorites: If you find a few favorites, we’ll narrow it down and have you re-try them back-to-back to compare.
Minutes 75–90: The Decision & Celebration!
The final 15 minutes are reserved for the biggest decision of the day (and one of the biggest of your engagement!).
The Final Gown: If you’ve found the one, this is the moment! You’ll step back into the dress that makes you tear up, beam, or just know.
Accessorizing: We might add a veil, belt, or other accessories to help you see the complete bridal look.
Celebration! Cue the "Say Yes" playlist and the happy tears. We’ll take photos and celebrate your success!
Next Steps: If you say "yes," we'll take your measurements, discuss sizing, review the contract, and collect the required deposit to officially order your dream gown!
